Error adding _atproto. TXT record to DNS

I’m trying to add an _atproto.ianbrandt.com TXT record with value did=did:plc:rjgq2lcdvup2qs6jsll5mq6n to DNS in order to setup a custom Bluesky handle with my domain.

When I first clicked “Save”, the “Create a new DNS record” dialog just disappeared. No record was added, and no error was shown. When I tried again, the “Create a new DNS record” dialog then had the following error at the top:

dns_api ianbrandt.com - @_atproto.ianbrandt.com/TXT: 400 - Please correct the following field: Domain

I also tried just _atproto and _atproto. as the host name, but no change. I tried setting a TTL as well, but again no change.

I am trying to do the exact same thing and am encountering the same problem.

Dropping the “@” from domain fixed this for me!

Too much screen time yesterday. I didn’t even see the “@“. :man_facepalming: Replacing it with just “_atproto” did the trick.
