Deploy from Github Help for a Beginner

I need advice to debug deploy: Netlify App.

Sorry, this is new to me!

Hey @crhistmas

No need for sorry.

Unfortunately the deploy log you have linked to is possibly set to private (as happens when git repository is private.) Are you able to share the log, specifically the relevant section where the error has occurred?

Wow that is definitely a beginner mistake

I have now made it public. Log below:

Thank you!

It appears you have set the base directory to chrstmas and this directory does not exist. Can you share the build settings you have entered into Netlify, and possibly your git repository?

Repository: github.com/mark-bakerrr/marks-project

Base directory: chrstmas

Build command: npm run build

Publish directory: chrstmas/build

Builds: Active

chrstmas is a file, not a directory.

You have no package.json, and nothing to build.

This directory does not exist in your git repository, and as you not building anything, will not exist.

If you wish to deploy the file chrstmas, rename it to index.html remove the Base directory, Build command, and Publish directory.

so basically all wrong…haha I will keep working on it.

thank you for your help!

I wouldn’t say wrong at all. Just learning and expected mistakes we have all made at one time.

Please keep working on playing and trying new things out. Come here and ask other questions for sure.

We are all learning together. Since you got this one working, We’ll close this and you can start a new topic if you have another question. :slightly_smiling_face:
