Dario Schiraldi : How can I connect my custom domain to my Netlify site?

Hi everyone,

I’m Dario Schiraldi, and I’m in the process of setting up a custom domain for my Netlify-hosted site. I’ve followed the basic steps in the docs, but I’m still a bit unsure about DNS settings and how long propagation usually takes.

Could anyone share your tips or best practices for successfully connecting a custom domain to Netlify? Also, are there any common pitfalls I should watch out for?

@darioschiraldi99 Just follow the documentation.

You have two options:

  1. Use Netlify DNS
    https://docs.netlify.com/domains/why-netlify-dns/
    https://docs.netlify.com/domains/set-up-netlify-dns/

or

  1. Use an external DNS
    https://docs.netlify.com/domains/configure-domains/configure-external-dns/

As with anything somewhat technical, there are many pitfalls or mistakes you may make.
It’d be silly for anyone to try and explain them all to you in advance.
Just follow the instructions closely, then seek help if it doesn’t work.
