Custom domain - A DNS zone already exists on NS1

Oh that’s awesome! I’m glad you got this sorted. Good luck and happy building. :rocket:

Hello!

I’m also receiving this error and need help with removing the DNS zone.

I had originally changed the nameservers for this domain to the Netflify DNS zones but then removed it. Instead, I’ve added an A record to point to the Netflify load balancer IP address, but am getting this error message and “Awaiting external DNS”. Domain name in screenshot

@kjjtruong Hi!

There are two solutions for this.

The first solution for this will be to discover which other service you have used this domain with. Then contact that service to have them remove the configuration for this domain at NS1. That is the only solution which allows for using Netlify DNS for this domain name.

NS1 won’t tell us who the other company is that already configured this domain with their service. This means you will need to determine which other services you have used for DNS service for this domain and contact that company to get this removed.

There is another solution. Instead of using our Managed DNS, you can also use external DNS method for the custom domain at Netlify.

You can also start by using external DNS method for now while you work with the other company to remove the DNS configuration they already have at NS1.

this " artdeserttours.com:

it guved me this errors “A DNS zone for this domain already exists on NS1, the DNS provider backing Netlify DNS”

Have you read through this support guide @saidbk?

I see the domain is currently using Cloudflare. Are you planning to move the domain from Cloudflare DNS to Netlify DNS?

Have you received this message when adding your domain to Netlify? Read on for solutions!

  • If you are trying to use a domain name purchased through Name.com , please see the existing Support Guide guide.
  • Alternatively, perhaps this domain has been used with another service (such as Squarespace) who, like Netlify, utilise NS1 to deliver their service. It might have even have been used by somebody who owned the domain before you! There are two potential solutions:
    • Discover which other service you have used this domain with. You will need to contact that service and request them to remove the configuration for this domain at NS1. This is likely to be the only straightforward solution which will enable you to use our Netlify DNS, with this domain name. Unfortunately, NS1 are unable to tell us the service provider where this domain is already configured. However, in case you don’t know which provider this was, you may try the below step instead.
    • If nothing else above works , instead of using Netlify DNS, you can use the external DNS instructions to connect the domain name to the site at Netlify. Note that this can be just as fast as using our DNS hosting, as explained in this support guide.

ok i am going to do it

i did it now but still the same problem

You did what exactly? What is “it” that you did?

i delete my site from cloudflar

Why did you delete the site from Cloudflare?

now my domain name is independ but still the same problem

The issue has, nor had, anything to do with Cloudflare. The option you should have used was the last option which entails configuring the domain using external DNS (see below) instead of using Netlify DNS (you could have then continued using Cloudflare DNS.)

so how can i link my domain name to netlify with this methos?

i mean how can use the external DNS instructions](Configure external DNS for a custom domain | Netlify Docs) to connect the domain name to the site at Netlify

The documentation explains everything you need to know.
