Can't see configuration for deploy previews in 'Deploy contexts'

According to https://docs.netlify.com/site-deploys/overview/#branch-deploy-controls the “Deploy contexts” settings allows editing deploy previews (see the screenshot there)

Yet that section doesn’t exist:

This is a screenshot from a site that has active deploy previews ( https://app.netlify.com/sites/mytonies-deploy-previews/overview ).

Can someone tell me why my site doesn’t have the setting for deploy previews, despite them being active?

Hey @joern.zaefferer,
Hmmm… I’m wondering if this is connected to the fact that this site says “Deploys from manual” here when actually it appears to be deployed from Gitlab? Can you confirm? And you can you also let us know whether this happened recently or has always been this way?

I don’t know why it says “Deploys from manual”, or what exactly that means. The deployment was triggered via Webhooks from GitLab, though we’ve disabled them recently.

And you can you also let us know whether this happened recently or has always been this way?

I think its “always” been this way - at least in the ~6 months I’ve been involved in the project I’ve never seen a change on this screen.

This is somewhat expected due to the way you have linked your repo, @joern.zaefferer . In our database the linkage is marked as “manual” meaning you likely linked via API or the CLI.

In the new world, for customers at the business level - which I think you are - you can link a repo through our UI, as described here: https://docs.netlify.com/configure-builds/repo-permissions-linking/self-hosted-git/

If you aren’t a business level customer that isn’t a feature you’ll have, but it has the caveats outlined in the article since the linkage is incomplete, meaning some features won’t be available.
